Exciting opportunity for an AI Business Analyst to join the Central AI Capability Commercial Operations team in this global Energy company.
Hybrid: 3 days per week from London office.
This is an exciting time to join this world-leading Energy company as it evolves from a traditional Oil & Gas enterprise into a future-focused Energy leader. This transformation includes the establishment of a highly successful new Power Trading desk within the Energy Trading team and ventures into cutting-edge solutions that address the evolving demands of the Energy sector. These initiatives include advanced Gas infrastructure, LNG technology, effective Energy Storage systems and Green Energy solutions.
The Business Analyst will be part of a central AI delivery team for Commercial Operations, acting as a shared capability across portfolios.
Core Skills & Responsibilities- Shaping AI use cases from problem statement to production
- Enabling consistent intake, prioritisation, and value assessment
- Bridging business demand with AI delivery, governance, and IT processes
- Preventing AI initiatives from stalling at PoC stage
- Partner with Commercial Operations teams to identify, frame, and prioritise AI use cases
- Translate business problems into clear AI ready use cases, including:
- Objectives and success criteria
- Expected business value (efficiency, risk reduction, speed, quality)
- Data inputs and constraints
- Elicit and document lean, outcome driven requirements suitable for AI and data products
- Map current state processes and identify automation and augmentation opportunities
- Define acceptance criteria focused on business outcomes, not just technical completion
- Lead discovery workshops and structured problem framing sessions
- Act as a bridge between business, AI engineers, IT architecture, security, and governance
- Experience working in Agile, iterative delivery environments with experimentation cycles
- Proficiency with:
- JIRA, Confluence
- Excel and SQL for analysis and validation
- Power BI / Tableau for value and performance tracking
7+ years with strong hands on delivery exposure
- AI / automation use case storytelling and value articulation
- Change management and adoption planning
- Business process modelling and service design
- Experience working in federated or centralised capability models
- Experience in Commercial Operations and Trading & Supply environments
- Agile certifications (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban)
This needs combining with a positive attitude and an ability to work within a large, globally dispersed project team in a multi-cultural environment. You also need to be a self-starter, a logical thinker and a quick learner, with strong initiative and excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, able to write clearly and concisely.
