I am working on behalf of my Client who are seeking an experienced 1st / 2nd Line IT Support Engineer to operate as an on-site (in-plant) engineer within one of our key customer environments. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role where you will act as the primary IT presence on-site, supporting daily operations across a fast-paced distribution and office setting. You will work closely with end users, third-party vendors, and the central service desk to ensure smooth and efficient IT service delivery across three locations.
Key Responsibilities
- User Support (1st / 2nd Line)
- Deliver on-site IT support to office, workshop, and warehouse users
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues
- Escalate complex incidents to 3rd line teams or external vendors where necessary
- Maintain a professional, customer-focused approach at all times
- Provide support for the Syrinx application
- Maintain and support Terminal Server / RDS environments (used for Sage)
- Administer and support Microsoft 365 services (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint)
- Support and maintain on-premises Windows Server environments
- Provide 1st and 2nd line support for network infrastructure (switches, cabling, connectivity)
- Troubleshoot LAN/WAN issues and basic firewall/network problems
- Liaise with ISPs and third-party providers to resolve connectivity issues
- Support desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, scanners, and warehouse terminals
- Build, configure, and deploy new hardware
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls
- Monitor systems and proactively address potential issues
- Maintain accurate documentation and handover notes
- Collaborate with internal teams and customer management
- Ensure adherence to IT standards, processes, and procedures
Skills & Experience (Essential)
- Proven experience in a 1st / 2nd Line IT Support role
- Experience supporting users in a fast-paced operational or warehouse environment
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Windows 10 / 11
- Windows Server (on-premises)
- Terminal Server / RDS
- Microsoft 365 / Office 365
- Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, switching, connectivity troubleshooting)
