About the Role As a Junior Estimator, you’ll work closely with our Estimating and Sales teams to prepare accurate, compliant, and commercially competitive tenders for Life Safety Systems projects.
This role is ideal for someone with hands-on engineering experience who understands fire and life safety systems and is ready to transition into estimating, design support, or commercial operations.
You’ll play a key part in helping secure projects while developing your technical and commercial expertise in a growing business.
- What You’ll Be Doing
- Reviewing tender enquiries, specifications, drawings, and associated documentation to determine project requirements
- Producing detailed take-offs for life safety systems, including devices, cabling, containment, and associated equipment
- Preparing accurate cost estimates covering labour, materials, specialist equipment, and subcontract packages
- Obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure compliance and best value
- Supporting the preparation of tender submissions, clarifications, and technical responses
- Identifying risks, omissions, and opportunities within tender documentation
- Assisting with internal tender adjudications and commercial reviews
- Ensuring company standards, compliance requirements, and estimating procedures are followed throughout the process
- Supporting project handovers to the Operations and Projects teams
- Maintaining awareness of current industry standards, products, and market trends
- Attending internal meetings, tender reviews, and occasional site visits where required What We’re Looking For
- Experience in fire alarms/life safety systems or related engineering
- Strong knowledge and understanding of BS 5839-1:2025 and technical drawings
- Good IT skills, including Excel; estimating software experience is desirable
- Detail-focused with strong communication and organisational skills
- Self-motivated, team player, and able to work independently
- FIA qualifications desirable
