Our client, a respected multidisciplinary engineering consultancy based in central Birmingham, is seeking a proactive and detail-driven Finance Assistant to join their friendly team. Our client delivers civil and structural engineering services across various sectors.
As Finance Assistant, reporting to the Finance Manager, you will support day-to-day finance operations from offices in Birmingham, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and excellent communication across the business.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Bookkeeping using Xero and Dext
- Checking and registering employee expenses
- Reviewing remittances and responding to finance queries
- Generating reports for monthly creditor payment runs
- Credit control: issuing debtor statements and chasing outstanding payments
- Accurate data input and maintenance
- Supporting VAT return preparation
- Assisting with weekly/monthly debtor reporting and management accounts
The most desirable Finance Assistant applicant will have:
- Proven bookkeeping experience, ideally within a small business or internal finance team
- Proficiency with accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and MS Office
- AAT qualification (preferred)
£30,000 - £32,000 per annum plus benefits. Opportunity for 1 day per week home working once established.
