We are delighted to be partnering exclusively with The ExtraCare Charitable Trust to recruit an Infrastructure Engineer on a 12 month fixed term contract (FTC). The role is paying £45,000 per annum, plus benefits, inclusive of hybrid working.

The ExtraCare Charitable Trust is a registered charity established in 1988, based in Coventry. They employ 1250 staff, with a turnover of over £60m plus over £70m of property sales, offering 4199 homes for older people.

Their vision is \'Better Lives for Older People\' and their mission is to \'Create sustainable communities that provide homes older people want, lifestyles they can enjoy and care if it is needed.\'

To deliver their vision and mission they essentially do three things:

  • Develop new villages.
  • Operate villages and schemes.
  • Support their villages, schemes and their \'extra-care\' model through fundraising, advocacy & research.

Since 1988, ExtraCare has been the UK\'s leading not-for-profit pioneer for retirement living, opening 20 locations around their Midlands base and further South.

Infrastructure Engineer (12 month FTC):

  • Design, implement and manage infrastructure solutions on the following projects.
  1. IT Stabilisation
  2. Wi-Fi Replacement
  3. Building Management Systems
  4. Telephony
  5. LAN Redesign
  6. Comms Room Remediation
  7. Server Infrastructure
  8. Modernisation (Hagley Road Village)
  • Ensure stability, security, and scalability of infrastructure systems at ExtraCare locations.
  • Drive technical standardisation and consistency across ExtraCare locations and ensure up-to-date best practice is adopted.
  • Reduce technical debt and ensure \'security through design\'.
  • Write technical design documents and manage them through a peer review and approval process.
  • Implement approved designs at locations.
  • Provide technical expertise and support during the implementation of infrastructure changes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues related to upgrades and replacements.
  • Transfer knowledge and documentation to the support teams.
  • Work under the direction of the Technical Project Manager and Project Delivery Manager.
  • Work closely with IT teams, suppliers, and management to ensure seamless execution of projects.
  • Contribute to procurement activities by collating requirements and documentation.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out in line with ExtraCare\'s Health & Safety Policies.

This post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure where applicable, two satisfactory references, medical clearance and Home Office right to work clearance.

Infrastructure Engineer (12 month FTC):

  • You will ideally hold ITIL Foundation certification.
  • Technical certifications in relevant technologies (Microsoft, Networking, Cyber Security) are desirable.
  • Previous experience of designing and implementing infrastructure projects across multiple sites.
  • A background working with external suppliers on parts of the design and implementation.
  • A track record designing infrastructure for similar size locations (large footprint, up to 1500 devices).
  • Ability to work in a structured manner to high technical standards and quality.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-Able to work and communicate effectively with remote teams.
  • Excellent understanding of LAN (IP addressing, vlans, routing, layer 2/3), Telecoms (Analogue, SIP, VOIP), Identity management (Active Directory), network services (DHCP, NTP etc), Wi-Fi, Windows Server, Windows PC.
  • Strong documentation skills (diagrams, design, requirements management etc).
  • Able to work and communicate effectively with remote teams.
  • Good knowledge of cyber security principles and frameworks.
