An established and highly respected accountancy practice in Suffolk is seeking an experienced Accounts Manager or Assistant Manager to join its growing team. This is a newly created role driven by increasing demand across accounts preparation and wider non-audit advisory services. It offers an excellent opportunity for a technically strong individual who enjoys working with larger, more complex clients and getting involved in varied ad hoc projects.
The successful candidate will manage their own portfolio of clients while also supporting the wider audit team by overseeing the delivery of non-audit services on selected assignments. This role offers exposure to larger and more technically complex clients, alongside involvement in a variety of ad hoc and advisory-focused projects. The successful individual will also have responsibility for supervising and reviewing the work of a Senior team member reporting directly into them.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a portfolio of clients across a range of sectors
- Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts under FRS102
- Delivering non-audit services to a high technical standard
- Supporting the audit team with accounting and technical matters
- Reviewing and overseeing work completed by junior/senior staff
- Assisting with ad hoc technical and client projects
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Ensuring assignments are completed efficiently and to deadline
The ideal candidate will be technically strong, client-focused, and confident working with medium-sized businesses within a practice environment. The successful candidate will ideally have:
- ACA or ACCA qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Strong experience preparing and reviewing accounts under FRS102
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice
- Experience managing client relationships and reviewing staff work
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- A proactive and collaborative approach
Previous audit experience would be advantageous in order to understand the wider team and client requirements, although the role itself does not involve audit work and audit experience is not essential.
