We’re supporting a banking client on a critical infrastructure resilience initiative and are looking for an experienced Security Architect to join the programme. This role sits within the client’s Security Architecture function and will focus on shaping the security architecture for a new immutable cloud backup capability being extended from on-premise data centre infrastructure into Azure. This is not a traditional governance-only architecture role. You’ll work closely with delivery and solution teams, embedding directly into the programme to help design and land secure, pragmatic solutions within real-world engineering and delivery constraints.

The Role

You’ll partner with feature teams, solution architects, delivery leads, and engineers to ensure security is designed into the solution from the outset. The successful candidate will be hands-on in defining both high-level and low-level security architectures, supporting delivery through to production deployment, and helping engineering teams make sound security decisions across cloud, infrastructure, identity, and operational security domains. There is also potential to support additional security architecture initiatives across the wider estate alongside the core programme.

What you will be doing:

  • Partner with feature teams and architects to enable secure technology adoption
  • Perform focused security architecture spikes to support solution design and delivery
  • Produce high-level and low-level security architecture documentation
  • Support engineering and delivery teams through implementation and production rollout
  • Define and review:
    • Access control models
    • Identity and privileged access approaches
    • Key management and cryptographic controls
    • Secure network and connectivity patterns
  • Work closely with SOC and EDR teams to ensure monitoring, telemetry, and detection capabilities are embedded from day one
  • Challenge and validate technical decisions from a security perspective, balancing risk against delivery constraints
  • Ensure alignment with existing enterprise security standards, architectural patterns, and governance requirements

What you will need to have:

  • Proven end-to-end Security Architecture delivery experience across complex enterprise environments
  • Strong experience producing and owning both HLDs and LLDs through full delivery lifecycles
  • Demonstrable experience embedding within engineering or solution architecture teams to deliver pragmatic security outcomes
  • Strong Azure security delivery experience, including hands-on understanding of Azure-native security controls and services
  • Experience working as a Security Architect across data centre and infrastructure environments
  • Strong networking and hybrid connectivity knowledge, including segmentation and firewalling principles
  • Expertise across multiple security domains, including:
    • Infrastructure security
    • Cloud security
    • Identity & privileged access management
    • Data security
    • Cryptography & key management
    • Application security
    • Security operations & monitoring integration
    • Security engineering

Nice-to-Have:

  • Financial Services or Banking sector experience
  • Experience with enterprise backup and recovery technologies
  • Relevant security certifications such as: CISSP, CISM, CCSP, SABSA, AZ-500
