EA Associates are working with a highly respected facilities management business who are looking to strengthen their on-site maintenance team with the appointment of a Multi-Skilled Engineer based at a key site in Ipswich town centre. This is a permanent position offering a stable working environment, a varied workload and the opportunity to join an experienced team responsible for maintaining a large commercial facility.

The Client

Our client is a well-established Facilities Management provider delivering maintenance and building services solutions across a range of commercial environments. They have built an excellent reputation for service delivery and invest heavily in both their people and the sites they manage.

The Role

Working Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm, you will be responsible for delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across the site, ensuring all plant, equipment and building services remain operational and compliant. The successful candidate will undertake a broad range of maintenance duties, covering mechanical, electrical, plumbing and general fabric maintenance works.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in accordance with statutory and contractual requirements
  • Responding to reactive maintenance issues and diagnosing faults effectively
  • Undertaking general building fabric repairs and basic plumbing works
  • Maintaining plant and equipment including filters, belts, valves and associated components
  • Completing maintenance reports and compliance documentation accurately
  • Reviewing RAMS and ensuring safe systems of work are followed
  • Supervising specialist subcontractors whilst on site
  • Inspecting and signing off works completed by external contractors
  • Escalating major maintenance issues to the Facilities Manager where required
  • Ensuring health & safety standards are maintained at all times
  • Maintaining stock levels of essential maintenance materials and consumables
  • Participating in emergency call-out and out-of-hours response duties when required

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience within Facilities Management, Building Services or Maintenance Engineering
  • Experience carrying out both reactive maintenance and PPM works
  • Relevant engineering qualification (Mechanical or Electrical)
  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in a related discipline
  • 18th Edition qualification would be advantageous
  • Good understanding of health & safety legislation and compliance requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals and O&M documentation
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Competent IT skills including Outlook and Excel
  • Experience working within commercial environments would be beneficial
