Freelance Quantity Surveyor in Ipswich

We re supporting a respected organisation in their search for an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor. This role offers the chance to provide broad commercial support across a varied portfolio of residential and commercial projects, while also contributing expertise to more complex commercial matters when required.

The Role:

You will work across the full spectrum of commercial duties, including cost management, contract administration, reporting, and supporting project teams with day-to-day commercial delivery. Additionally, you will assist with loss and expense claims, particularly where cases require detailed analysis and structured commercial reasoning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage core QS duties across residential and commercial projects
• Support cost planning, forecasting, and commercial reporting
• Review contract terms and ensure compliance with project requirements
• Work with operational teams to gather and validate project data
• Contribute to the preparation of loss and expense claims, including complex elements when needed
• Assist in maintaining strong commercial governance and risk management

What We re Looking For:

• Solid experience as a Quantity Surveyor across residential and/or commercial project delivery
• Exposure to loss and expense work, with the ability to handle more complex aspects where required
• Strong understanding of standard forms of contract (NEC/JCT desirable)
• Confident communicator with strong analytical and written skills
• Able to work independently in a freelance capacity
