Our client, a respected family-run construction company specialising in high-quality residential refurbishments, is looking to recruit an experienced Working Foreman with a strong carpentry background. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled carpenter who enjoys leading from the front. The role is predominantly hands-on, with the successful candidate expected to carry out carpentry works while overseeing the day-to-day activities of all trades on site, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to an exceptional standard. The Role Working closely with senior management, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of residential refurbishment projects, acting as the main point of contact on site. While remaining actively involved in carpentry works, you will coordinate subcontractors and trades, maintain programme, and ensure the highest standards of workmanship are achieved throughout the project. Key Responsibilities * Carry out first and second fix carpentry to a high standard. * Lead by example, working on the tools while supervising all trades on site. * Coordinate subcontractors and ensure works are completed in line with the programme. * Monitor quality of workmanship across all trades. * Maintain a safe, organised, and efficient site. * Liaise with senior regarding project progress, materials, and any site issues. * Ensure materials, plant, and labour are available when required. * Build positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. * Ensure works are completed in accordance with health and safety regulations and company standards. About You The ideal candidate will have: * A proven background in carpentry with excellent practical skills. * Previous experience as a Working Foreman, Lead Carpenter, or Site Supervisor within residential refurbishment. * The ability to confidently supervise multiple trades while remaining hands-on. * Strong organisational and communication skills. * A keen eye for detail and commitment to delivering high-quality finishes. * The ability to read and interpret construction drawings. * A proactive approach to problem-solving and site management. Desirable qualifications include: * SSSTS or SMSTS. * First Aid at Work. * NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry and Joinery (or equivalent).
