The Client: A well-established and steadily growing main contractor delivering high-quality construction, refurbishment and fit-out projects across the commercial, public, education and residential sectors. With projects ranging up to £3m in value and a reputation for delivering on time, on budget and to exacting standards, they maintain strong relationships with clients across Essex and the surrounding areas. As part of their ongoing growth, they are now looking to appoint a hands-on Contracts Manager to join their delivery team. The Role: As Contracts Manager, you will take ownership of multiple projects across Essex, from pre-start through to handover. You’ll be responsible for programming your own works, leading site teams, managing subcontractors, and ensuring quality, safety and commercial objectives are met. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a trade background who has progressed into management – or is ready to take the next step into a Contracts Manager role. Responsibilities: • Manage the delivery of multiple construction and refurbishment projects up to £3m in value. • Create, manage and update programmes of works to ensure timely completion. • Lead site teams and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and consultants. • Oversee quality control, health & safety and compliance across all sites. • Monitor budgets and work closely with commercial teams to manage project costs. • Attend client meetings and act as the main point of contact for all site-related matters. • Produce and maintain accurate site records and reports. Qualifications & Experience: • Trade background with experience progressing into site/project/contracts management. • Proven track record of managing multiple projects within a main contracting environment. • Strong IT skills and the ability to programme works using relevant software. • Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills. • Knowledge of construction contracts and commercial awareness. • Based within Essex or nearby, with a willingness to travel to projects across the county. • SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications preferred.
