EA Associates are working with a well-established and growing Groundworks contractor based in Cambridge who are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join their team. The company deliver a wide range of residential and commercial groundworks packages across the region and have built a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and long-standing client relationships. This is a varied and hands-on role, offering involvement across both pre-construction and commercial management, making it ideal for someone who enjoys seeing projects through from tender stage to final account.
The Role: Working closely with the Directors and operational teams, you will play a key role in both winning and delivering projects, taking responsibility for estimating, cost control, and commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing detailed estimates, tenders, and cost plans for groundworks packages
- Carrying out take-offs and pricing works including foundations, drainage, roads, and infrastructure
- Subcontractor procurement and negotiation
- Managing project costs from award through to final account
- Preparing valuations, variations, and cost reports
- Monitoring project performance and forecasting costs
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
- Working closely with site teams to support project delivery and ensure commercial efficiency
Requirements:
- Proven experience within groundworks or civil engineering
- Previous experience in Quantity Surveying, Estimating, or a combined role
- Strong understanding of groundworks packages and associated costs
- Good commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities across different stages of projects
