The Client: A leading national housebuilder and developer delivering largeāscale residential schemes across the UK. Known for their structured approach, strong commercial teams and longāterm project pipelines, the business continues to secure significant new build developments across the South East and is now looking to strengthen its commercial leadership on a flagship project.
The Role: An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team and take full lead responsibility for a major residential new build project in the Borehamwood area. Initially, the successful candidate will act as the lead QS on this scheme, reporting directly into the Commercial Manager. Longer term, this role offers the opportunity to progress into a regional leadership position, overseeing multiple schemes and managing a small commercial team. This is a siteābased role, suited to a commercially astute professional with strong technical knowledge and proven experience delivering large residential projects for a main contractor.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Lead Quantity Surveyor on a largeāscale residential new build scheme.
- Full commercial management of the project from live construction through to completion.
- Procurement of all trade packages, from groundworks through to final finishes and builders clean.
- Reāmeasurement and commercial management of groundworks packages.
- Management and development of a commercial team of 2-3 Quantity Surveyors / Assistants.
- Preparation of cost reports, forecasts, valuations and final accounts.
- Liaison with operational teams, senior management and external stakeholders.
- Ensure commercial controls, procedures and reporting standards are adhered to throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience as a Senior or Lead Quantity Surveyor on new build residential projects valued in excess of £20m.
- Background working for a main contractor or housebuilder is essential.
- Strong experience managing and reāmeasuring groundworks packages.
- Track record of procuring and managing a full range of trade packages.
- Experience leading and mentoring junior commercial staff.
- Excellent commercial awareness, communication and leadership skills.
