The Client: A highly respected and long-established main contractor delivering a broad mix of new build, refurbishment and fit-out projects across commercial, education, healthcare, leisure and public sectors. With a reputation for quality and repeat business, this forward-thinking contractor continues to grow its portfolio across London and the South East. To support that growth, they are now seeking an ambitious Assistant Contracts Manager to join their team. The Role: This is a fantastic opportunity for someone at the early stages of their career in construction management. As Assistant Contracts Manager, you’ll work directly alongside the Construction Director, who will personally mentor and train you with the clear aim of progressing you into a Contracts Manager role. The position has previously been a proven pathway within the business, with the former postholder successfully developing into managing their own portfolio of projects. You’ll gain hands-on exposure across all aspects of project delivery – from planning and programming through to client liaison, site coordination and commercial awareness – on a variety of schemes up to £10m in value. Responsibilities: * Work closely with the Construction Director to learn and assist with the management of multiple projects. * Support with programming, resource planning, subcontractor coordination and site progress monitoring. * Attend client meetings and contribute to project reporting and documentation. * Ensure high standards of quality, health & safety and compliance across live projects. * Assist with procurement processes and commercial management tasks. * Gain first-hand exposure to contract administration and project handovers. * Develop towards taking ownership of your own projects under the guidance of senior leadership. Qualifications & Experience: * Early career professional with experience in a Site Management, Assistant Site Manager, or Project Management role. * Formal construction qualifications (HNC/HND/Degree) desirable but not essential. * Strong organisational and communication skills. * Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with project software beneficial. * A proactive attitude and ambition to grow into a Contracts Manager role. * Willingness to travel to sites across London and the South East.
