Parachuting Top Caliber Accounting Experts To Client\’s Front Lines
Privately held, company is seeking an experienced Interim CFO to provide leadership during a transitional period. The Interim CFO will partner closely with the new CEO and board to maintain financial oversight, manage lender relationships, and stabilize trading-related financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on financial leadership during CFO transition period
- Oversee all financial operations, with particular focus on the metals trading business
- Manage lender relationships and financing structures supporting trading activity
- Ensure proper accounting treatment for trading activities, including mark-to-market, inventory valuation, and hedge accounting as applicable
- Monitor liquidity, cash forecasting, and risk management tied to commodity trading positions
- Support manufacturing financial operations and cost accounting processes
- Collaborate with ownership, board members, and external advisors during transition
- Help stabilize financial reporting and controls during interim period
- Potential to assist with permanent CFO search and onboarding
Qualifications:
- Significant CFO or senior finance leadership experience in commodity trading, or related sectors (oil & gas, energy, scrap metals, etc.)
- Strong technical understanding of trading accounting, risk management, and lender financing structures
- Experience managing lender relationships and complex borrowing base structures tied to trading businesses
- Manufacturing finance and cost accounting experience a strong plus
- Ability to work onsite or travel regularly to Southwest Michigan; Chicago-based or Midwest candidates strongly preferred, Houston considered for strong trading experience
