We are seeking a skilled and passionate Indian Cuisine Chef to prepare authentic and high-quality Indian dishes. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of traditional Indian cooking techniques, spices, regional cuisines, and modern presentation styles. The chef will be responsible for menu development, food preparation, kitchen operations, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and quality.
Responsibilities
- Food Preparation & Cooking: Prepare and cook a wide range of authentic Indian dishes; ensure consistency in taste, quality, and presentation of all dishes; follow traditional recipes while incorporating modern culinary trends where appropriate.
- Menu Planning & Development: Design and update menus based on customer preferences, seasonal ingredients, and business goals; suggest new dishes and specials to enhance the restaurant's offerings.
- Kitchen Operations: Manage daily kitchen operations efficiently; supervise and coordinate kitchen staff (commis chefs, cooks, kitchen assistants); ensure timely preparation and service of food.
- Quality Control & Hygiene: Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in accordance with health regulations; monitor stock levels and ensure proper storage of ingredients.
- Inventory & Cost Control: Manage inventory, ordering, and supplier relationships; minimise waste and control food costs.
- Customer Satisfaction: Work closely with management to meet customer expectations; handle special dietary requests and customise dishes when required.
Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Skills: Proven experience as an Indian Cuisine Chef or similar role. In-depth knowledge of Indian spices, ingredients, and cooking techniques. Ability to prepare a variety of regional Indian dishes. Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Soft Skills: Creativity and attention to detail. Leadership and teamwork abilities. Time management and multitasking skills. Strong communication skills.
Education & Experience
- Culinary qualification or equivalent professional training.
