E1 Partners is recruiting on behalf of a leading energy business for a Learning & Development Manager to play a pivotal role in shaping a high-performance, values-driven culture. This is a highly visible role suited to a creative, approachable L&D professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys partnering with senior leaders to build capability, strengthen leadership and drive meaningful development across an organisation.
The Role
As Learning & Development Manager, you will work closely with Heads of Department, HR and subject-matter experts to proactively identify development needs and design flexible, commercially driven learning solutions. Your focus will be on ensuring colleagues have the skills, knowledge and confidence to perform at their best, now and in the future.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted learning partner to senior leaders, identifying capability gaps, development needs and stretch opportunities aligned to business objectives.
- Design, deliver and continuously evolve soft-skills and management development programmes, embedding best-practice people management across the business.
- Coordinate technical and company-specific training, partnering with internal subject-matter experts to deliver high-quality, relevant learning.
- Lead and maintain a clear approach to succession planning, including the 9-box grid process and development pathways for high-potential talent.
- Build and enhance early-careers learning, including graduate programmes, supporting accelerated development and progression.
- Support, coach and develop internal trainers and facilitators to ensure engaging, consistent and effective delivery.
- Create, own and report on measurable, company-wide L&D targets and outcomes.
- Develop training materials and guidance in collaboration with HR, with a strong focus on employee experience.
- Champion continuous learning, digital solutions and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Evaluate learning effectiveness using data, feedback and performance insights.
- Collaborate closely with HR to align learning initiatives with wider people and talent strategies.
- Support cyclical HR processes, including performance development planning, objective setting and talent reviews.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a Learning & Development role, ideally within a fast-paced, high-growth or entrepreneurial environment.
- Strong background in designing and delivering soft-skills and management development programmes.
- Experience leading or managing small teams.
- Confident facilitator with strong presentation skills and the ability to influence at all levels.
- Experience coordinating technical training and working with subject-matter experts.
- Solid understanding of talent management and succession planning, including the 9-box grid.
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to measure impact and turn insight into action.
- Experience implementing modern, blended and digital learning methodologies.
- Highly autonomous, proactive and confident using sound judgement.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
