We have a fantastic opportunity for an Operations Manager to join our team at Carlton Forest, Nottingham, S81. Contract type: Full time, permanent, 40 hours per week.
About the Role
To lead the “day to day” operational delivery of our Patient Care division in support of EMED goals, with a clear focus on performance delivery and clinical quality of all frontline patient transport services. Ensuring all quality and governance requirements meet objectives and performance targets. The role is fundamental to the delivery of exceptional service by providing inspired leadership, developing and guiding the team and improving performance through strategic decision making.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Business performance and service delivery – Deliver excellent customer service and improved operating profit across the region by ensuring that the team have the skills and capabilities to deliver services in accordance with operational guidelines and legislation.
- Embed and utilise effective and efficient business performance management tools across the area to engage all members of the team in taking personal accountability for the success of the business.
- Ensuring compliance with the requirements of business continuity plans and emergency preparedness including the preparation of plans and ad hoc arrangements and participate in on‑call arrangements and out of hours attendance.
- KPIs – Manage and embed Key Performance Indicators, identifying areas of poor operational performance against standards; working with Senior Management to develop operational plans to improve performance and standards ensuring these are embedded within the operation.
- Clinical Quality and Governance – Monitor Governance and Quality requirements ensuring these are adhered by all staff within your locality, remaining at all times compliant to national standards of clinical, vehicle and H&S practice ensuring continuous provision of operational excellence in line with standards, guidance and training.
- Budgets – Working with senior management, ensure the effective management of all resources to include stock, assets, holidays, sickness, vehicle repairs, building control etc. ensuring value for money in service delivery whilst seeking opportunities for greater efficiency.
- People Management – Ensure all staff complete a meaningful PDR and ensure implementation and delivery of effective staff support offering a culture of CPD and ensure that identified training needs are acted upon through the relevant channels.
- Manage and develop staff in accordance with HR policies, such as discipline and absence processes ensuring personal adherence to policies and procedures.
- Hours and environment – Expected to be visible and maintain a physical presence across the North of England, attending locations as necessary in order to execute the tasks associated with the role.
- The working week is driven by operational activity and deadlines and while the post holder has the autonomy to manage their own diary, the post holder should expect to have to tailor their hours around the exigencies of the business.
- Accurate and reliable administration – You will be required to keep accurate records across your region, maintain high standards to ensure full compliance to company policy. Rota and timesheet management, GDPR management and all other tasks associated with the day to day running of the site.
Person Specification
- Experience of working in a highly regulated, complex business, with an understanding of healthcare logistics (patient transport service experience preferred).
- Passion for patient care and delivering a highly effective service.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with proven ability to engage at all levels within an organisation.
- High level of commercial awareness with proven experience in achieving KPI’s within a highly regulated industry.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to coach and guide.
- Excellent organisational skills with proven ability to multi-task and prioritise, as required.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and use initiative.
- Excellent IT skills to include all MS suites (knowledge of power BI and Cleric an advantage).
