As our SAP Implementation and Projects Engineer, you'll play a key role in shaping how maintenance and work management processes operate across our generation fleet. You'll help drive the successful implementation and adoption of SAP, ensuring maintenance activities are well planned, accurately recorded and supported by high-quality asset data. Alongside your SAP expertise, you'll provide engineering support to site improvement projects and operational initiatives, helping teams deliver work safely, efficiently and in line with business standards.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the focal point for SAP PM and associated work management processes across the generation fleet, ensuring consistent application of standards and high-quality maintenance records.
- Lead readiness and implementation activities for SAP changes/releases, including impact assessment, stakeholder engagement, local comms, and adoption support across the business.
- Liaise with Central teams and business workstreams to raise, track and resolve SAP PM incidents, enhancements, master data issues, and system defects.
- Coordinate and support testing of SAP changes in relevant environments, ensuring structured feedback and smooth transition to production.
- Promote effective use of approved SAP tools and user interfaces (e.g., Fiori apps where applicable), coaching users and improving ways of working.
- Maintain governance of maintenance documentation and record retention (e.g., work history and supporting evidence) to support audits and assurance.
- Provide engineering input to support delivery of projects and improvement initiatives across disciplines (electrical/mechanical/C&I as required by site needs), focusing on coordination, documentation, interfaces and delivery control.
- Support contractor coordination for project and maintenance activities, ensuring expectations on safety, quality and compliance are met.
- Support feasibility reviews and early project definition (options, scope, risks, and deliverability).
- Support project close-out and handover, ensuring SAP updates (equipment records, maintenance plans/task lists where applicable, history and documentation) are completed to standard.
- Ensure SAP processes and project support activities align with site safe systems of work, statutory obligations and E.ON governance.
What we need from you
- Engineering background with a recognised technical qualification (e.g., ONC/HNC/NVQ Level 3+ or equivalent) in an engineering discipline (electrical, mechanical, C&I, or similar).
- Strong working knowledge of SAP PM and maintenance/work management processes (work order lifecycle, notifications, planning discipline, history capture, basic reporting).
- Experience supporting system/process implementation or change in an operational environment (training support, adoption, testing, user guidance, continuous improvement).
- Experience in an industrial/regulated environment with strong understanding of safe systems of work and compliance expectations.
- Strong planning, organisation and stakeholder management skills; able to coach and influence users at all levels.
- Strong attention to detail, data integrity mindset, and ability to translate operational needs into practical SAP-enabled processes.
It would be great if you had
- Experience supporting site projects (coordination, contractor interface, documentation, close-out/handover).
- Experience supporting testing/UAT and release readiness activities.
- Understanding of asset management fundamentals (criticality, maintenance strategies, defect elimination).
- Familiarity with document control / audit evidence preparation in regulated environments.
