We are currently recruiting for a Head of Data here at e.surv Chartered Surveyors.
Role Purposes
As the Head of Data, you will take a leading role in shaping and orchestrating our data strategy, ensuring a streamlined and effective process while driving the Data Governance and Data Management program throughout the organization. In this key leadership position, you will spearhead all data governance initiatives, establishing and sustaining a robust enterprise-wide data governance framework. Your adaptability and proactive mindset will be essential in this dynamic environment, where you will actively engage and inspire those around you. You will collaborate confidently with a diverse array of stakeholders across data, risk and governance, finance, development, infrastructure, and marketing. This role is designed for individuals with a strong background in software development or data engineering, who are prepared to take the initiative in building, implementing, and optimizing effective data governance solutions.
Role Duties
- Assisting the Data Product Director with the daily operations of an expanding data function while contributing to the broader strategy of a key growth area.
- Establish Data Management and governance programs and drive data ownership throughout the business.
- Develop, lead and implement plans that will roll out the Data Management and Governance Programme within e.surv.
- Perform gap analysis to determine initiatives and build out road maps to address identified gaps.
- Leading a multi-discipline team encompassing management information, test and business intelligence; exceptional organisational and people skills are essential.
- Ensure efficient and timely delivery of programmes.
- Ensure effective communication with stakeholders.
- Identify and co-ordinate required resources for program execution and delivery.
- Responsible for management of third-party contracts.
- Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to ensure alignment between data governance and enterprise data architecture.
- Utilize your software development skills to build or integrate data governance tools and automate processes.
- Provide hands-on support and technical leadership in implementing: Data Dictionaries, Data Quality frameworks, Metadata Management, Master Data Management (MDM), Data Lineage and Traceability.
Knowledge and Experience
- Previous experience in a similar role building an organisation's data capability, governance structures and data frameworks.
- Project management using Azure DevOps.
- 5+ years of experience in and understanding of concepts and frameworks pertaining to Data Management - Data Governance, Data Policy, Data Lineage, Data Models, Data Quality, Data Risk and Control Frameworks, Data Literacy, Reference Data Management, Metadata Management.
- Data project management and Change management.
- Agile delivery.
- Software development and delivery.
- Documentation skills.
- Change delivery / transformation management.
- Building and managing a team in a fast-moving startup environment.
