We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Information Management & Governance Business Analyst to play a pivotal role in our data transformation journey. The focus is unstructured content and making it AI-ready through robust classification, metadata, quality, and governed processes. This role requires close collaboration with business, technical, and data governance teams to identify, catalogue, and govern our most critical information, ensuring its quality, accessibility, and readiness for future innovation.
What you'll do (scope)
- Requirements gathering: Plan and run workshops/interviews across business, technical, and data governance stakeholders; elicit, document, and prioritize requirements for identifying, curating, and enriching critical information (e.g., MoSCoW/RICE, epics/user stories, acceptance criteria).
- Critical Information Inventory: Support discovery and cataloguing of high-value information assets - especially unstructured capturing location, owner/steward, business relevance, sensitivity/retention, quality status, and AI readiness.
- Content classification & metadata: Co-design and validate auto-classification, metadata standards, taxonomies/controlled vocabularies, and tagging workflows; ensure assets are accurately described and consistently enriched for downstream use.
- Process mapping: Document current-state and future-state processes for ingestion, curation, enrichment, retrieval; Identify gaps, duplication, bottlenecks; define RACI, SLAs, and success measures.
- Quality assurance: Define and operationalize information quality benchmarks and scorecards (e.g., completeness, consistency, currency, accessibility); partner with information owners and data governance teams on sampling plans and continual improvement.
- Change & training: Support rollout of new IM practices and auto-classification capabilities (training materials, playbooks, UAT coordination, comms plans) to drive adoption within relevant business units.
- Governance enablement: Align with information policies, privacy/records requirements, and security controls; ensure traceability from requirements to processes, controls, and KPIs.
Required skills & qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in information/data management, cataloguing, metadata/taxonomy development, and unstructured content management.
- Proven capability in business process analysis, workshop facilitation, and stakeholder engagement across Business/IT/Governance teams.
- A strong track record of supporting digital transformation and information management initiatives within large, complex corporate environments.
- Hands-on with information governance and catalog/classification platforms (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Alation, OpenText, SharePoint/Teams/OneDrive, Box, Google Workspace).
- Strong documentation discipline (BRD/FRD/URS), agile user stories (Jira/Azure DevOps), and test/UAT support.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and change-management skills; ability to translate between business and technical audiences.
Nice to have
- Exposure to auto-classification/NLP and AI readiness for unstructured content (e.g., Syntex/Copilot, Azure AI Search, AWS Comprehend, GCP DLP).
- Basic SQL/Python for profiling and quality sampling; experience with search/retrieval patterns for AI (RAG, embeddings, metadata strategies).
- Industry experience in life sciences, financial services, or public sector; knowledge of GxP (nice for pharma contexts).
- Certifications: CDMP, IGP/CIP, Agile BA/CBAP, Prosci/Change, PRINCE2/Scrum.
