Leading Hedge Fund provider revolutionising the industry are seeking an Associate Python engineer (4-5 years experience) to learn about the Hedge Fund industry and hone their Python skills. This is a rare opportunity to get into a company in the sweet spot where product/market fit has been established, and they are on an amazing trajectory, but they are still privately owned, and are in a huge growth phase. People who join now are very well placed for that growth. Hedge Fund (or even financial) experience isn't a prerequisite; you would be hired on the strength of your Python Programming skills.
The current stack includes: Dataclasses, Pandas, Polars, Pytest, Asyncio, Postgres, ECS, Lambda, SQS - so experience with these technologies or alternatives would be helpful. It would be helpful if you're interested in tried and tested Agile (XP) and Product techniques. You understand the benefits (and limitations) of techniques such as TDD, BDD, pair/mob programming. You employ CI/CD (with automated tests and type and linting checks) by default and are an advocate for automated testing, pragmatically balancing quality and delivery.
What you will be doing:
- Hands-on programming to accelerate the delivery of client implementations.
- Working closely with your Team Leadership to contribute to and incorporate the implementation of our loosely-coupled event-based architectural vision.
- Engaging in new cross-functional practices to drive improved user experiences and process-based outcomes, for both internal and external user persona.
- Embracing and contributing to the learning environment around you, driving shared performance alongside a cohort of your peers across the organisation.
We want someone who has a collaborative mindset and has an innovative and empathic approach. This is an early career, (2+ years post graduate or 2-3 years' commercial experience) role and we need someone who is smart, who can grasp complex issues (and who relishes in finding their solutions) so that my client can invest in you and your career is nurtured and you can move up through the organisation. The wider team here is very smart yet humble. It's a super healthy working culture where no one is overly managed and people are given lots of freedom and flexibility. As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from anyone with the right skills and we embrace diversity. If you need any adjustments please ask and we will be very happy to accommodate them.
