Fire Safety Engineer / Fire Protection Engineer
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced
Fire Safety Engineer to join our growing Fire Engineering team, supporting the delivery of complex projects across the data centre, aviation, energy, utilities, industrial, commercial and infrastructure sectors .
This role offers the opportunity to work on major UK and international developments, delivering fire strategies, life safety solutions and fire protection designs while collaborating with multidisciplinary design teams.
The Role
As a Senior Fire Safety Engineer, you will lead and support the delivery of fire engineering solutions from concept through detailed design, ensuring compliance with UK Building Regulations, British Standards and international fire codes.
Working closely with clients, architects, MEP engineers and project managers, you will provide technical leadership on fire strategy, fire protection systems and life safety engineering across all RIBA stages.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare Fire Strategy Reports for new and existing developments.
- Develop fire and life safety strategies across multiple sectors.
- Carry out fire engineering assessments and compliance reviews.
- Undertake smoke control and evacuation assessments.
- Review architectural and MEP drawings to ensure fire safety compliance.
• Design and assess active fire protection systems including
- Sprinkler Systems
- Water Mist Systems
- Fire Pumps
- Hydrants

- Gaseous Suppression Systems
- Review hydraulic calculations and fire suppression designs.
- Coordinate fire alarm systems, smoke control and BMS cause-and-effect requirements.
- Support DSEAR and ATEX risk assessments where required.
- Produce technical reports, specifications and design documentation.
- Provide technical assurance and quality reviews.
- Attend client meetings and multidisciplinary design workshops.
- Liaise with Building Control, approving authorities and key stakeholders.
- Support site inspections, commissioning and witnessing activities.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to business growth.

Requirements
- Degree qualified in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Experience delivering Fire Strategy Reports.
