About the Role
Are you an experienced and meticulous Paint Prepper and Polisher looking to work on unique automotive projects? E-ppl is a leading supplier of Managed Services within the automotive industry, partnering with major OEMs both in the UK and overseas. We offer fully managed, turn-key solutions ranging from planned launch support to reactive quality campaigns. Currently, one of our premium OEM customers requires specialist Paint Prepper and Polisher support for a fast-paced, ongoing project within their facility in Solihull. This project runs 7 days a week on 12-hour shifts.
Core Responsibilities
- Surface Preparation: Cleaning, degreasing, and masking panels prior to the paint process. Filling imperfections and block-sanding to ensure a perfectly smooth foundation for topcoats.
- Refining & Polishing: Performing post-paint flatting, wet sanding, and machine polishing to achieve a high-gloss, factory-standard finish.
- Defect Rectification: Expertly identifying and safely removing paint defects such as dirt nibs, runs, fisheyes, and orange peel without compromising the clearcoat.
- Quality Inspection: Scrutinising painted and polished units for top-tier workmanship, ensuring all parts meet the OEM’s rigorous quality and showroom standards before final delivery.
- Equipment Maintenance: Operating orbital sanders, machine polishers, and other specialised hand tools safely and efficiently. Keeping your work area clean, organised, and hazard-free.
- Health & Safety: Strictly adhering to all laws and regulations regarding paint dust, polishing compounds, thinners, and hazardous materials. Wearing required PPE as recommended by manufacturers.
Requirements
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Paint Prepper, Polisher, or similar role within a professional automotive workshop, bodyshop, or OEM environment.
- Skill & Independence: A deep understanding of automotive paint systems, sanding grades, and cutting/refining compounds. Ability to work skilfully and safely, both as part of a team and on your own initiative.
- Detail-Oriented: A sharp eye for detail and an uncompromising commitment to premium quality.
- Adaptability & Stamina: The workload can change from minute to minute, and the project runs on 12-hour shifts, 7 days a week. We need someone who is flexible, highly reliable, and physically able to handle manual work under pressure.
