Mechanical and Electrical Technician (MET)

Location: Coventry

E-PPL is seeking a skilled Mechanical and Electrical Technician (MET) to join our client\’s team in the automotive sector. This is an Outside IR35 contract role with competitive pay, focusing on the development of cutting-edge electric and prototype vehicles.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented technician to work on exciting projects at the forefront of automotive innovation

The Role

You\’ll be an integral part of the prototype build process, working hands-on with both mechanical and electrical systems. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Vehicle Assembly & Modification: Installing and removing components such as powertrains, batteries, suspension, and brakes.
  • Electrical Diagnostics: Performing detailed electrical tests on wiring harnesses, ECUs, and high-voltage systems, including BMS (Battery Management Systems).
  • Troubleshooting: Using diagnostic tools to identify and resolve faults in both mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Calibration: Configuring and calibrating EV control systems, including powertrain controllers and battery charging systems.
  • Support: Working directly on prototype vehicles, assisting engineers with the integration and testing of new technologies.
  • Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of work and reporting findings.

We are looking for a professional with a strong background in both mechanical and electrical vehicle systems.

  • Experience & Qualifications: Proven experience as a Mechanic, Technician or Auto Electrician with an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in troubleshooting, using electrical testing equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes), and interpreting wiring schematics. Experience with automotive software systems is a plus.
  • Personal Skills: A full UK driving license, strong attention to detail, and good communication skills are essential.
  • Pay: Competitive, paid weekly.
  • Contract: Outside IR35.
  • Work Environment: Innovative and dynamic, with free onsite parking.
