Join Our Team as a Building Inspector
Are you a committed and experienced Registered Building Inspector seeking your next challenge? We are currently looking for a talented individual to join our team on a full-time basis, working five days a week. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in Surrey. We are ideally looking for a Class 2a Registered Building Inspector (RBI) as a minimum. While the classifications range from 2a up to 2f, we are open to considering candidates across that spectrum.
PAYE Pay Rate: £45 per hour plus holiday allowance
Temporary Ongoing contract
Key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting regular site inspections throughout the Borough to ensure compliance with building regulations
- Carrying out plan checking duties to assess and approve building plans
- Writing up detailed inspection reports in a timely and accurate manner
- Liaising effectively with contractors, developers, and internal teams to support the delivery of safe and compliant construction projects
Working arrangements offer some flexibility:
- The role is predominantly site-based, but there is scope to start or finish your day from home
- Plan checking and report writing can be completed either in our office or off-site, depending on your needs and operational requirements
Qualifications and experience:
- Working towards a qualification leading to corporate membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or the Association of Building Engineers (ABE)
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying or a related field
- Class 2a Registered Building Inspector status (minimum)
Knowledge and skills:
- Substantial and well-evidenced experience in building control
- Sound understanding of current building control legislation
- Familiarity with modern, new and traditional building practices
- Awareness or understanding of ISO 9001 quality management systems
- Driver with access to own car
