Job Description

We are looking for a Wholesale Markets Regulation Lead to join our Energy Markets Team on a permanent basis, based in our offices at Westwood, Coventry. In this role you will act as the lead specialist within E.ON Energy Markets UK for managing compliance with UK wholesale regulations across all trading and operational activities. You will take ownership of understanding, disseminating and applying the relevant regulations across Energy Markets UK, working closely with UK legal and building up an educated culture with your colleagues.

Wholesale Markets Regulation Lead

Here's what you'll be doing

  • Act as the Energy Markets expert on legislation such as EMIR, REMIR, PPATs, MAR, RAO and MIFID, including keeping up to date on policy developments.
  • Give specialist advice on Energy Markets activities that are covered by the relevant regulations and working closely with group-level compliance teams and UK Legal on policy
  • Own and deliver the wholesale compliance training for Energy Market in the UK, across a team of 100+ people
  • Manage the Trader Authorisation process for the UK Energy Markets Team, ensuring compliant setup in all mandates, systems and processes
  • Lead the Energy Markets response into consultations on future regulatory developments, working closely with the UK legal team.
  • Giving regulatory advice on new product approvals as part of the formal approvals process
  • Ensuring that Energy Markets' Flex Portfolio Solutions service is compliant and undertaking the necessary auditing to validate this
  • Ensuring that regulatory governance is in place for algorithmic trading activities
  • Responsibility for error and compliance reporting into UK Compliance, UK Risk and Internal Controls teams.

What we need from you

  • An inquisitive and driven approach to understanding how and why things work.
  • Strong communication skills, specifically influencing, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal and numerical reasoning skills and able to think creatively and tactically even when under pressure
  • Demonstrable understanding of the relevant financial and energy market regulations as detailed above
  • Experience of some degree of risk management and compliance
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and experience
  • Excellent analytical and documentation skills
    It would be great if you also had:
  • Experience in training management and policy implementation
  • Good understanding of the economic, commercial and market frameworks in the electricity and gas wholesale markets
  • Experience of working in wholesale energy markets.
  • Degree level education in a relevant discipline, e.g. law, economics.
