We're looking for Street Lighting / Power Engineering Cable Jointer Apprentices to join our Lighting & Grid team as part of our UK Energy Infrastructure Solutions business.
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Role: Apprentice - Power Engineering Cable Jointing and Street Lighting Installation, Service and Maintenance.
- Location: Wednesbury - Unit A, Patent Drive, Moorcroft Park, Wednesbury, WS10 7XD

Joining us as an EON Utility Services Apprentice, you'll be part of a dynamic team contributing to our drive for efficiency and sustainability. This apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience while earning qualifications over a four-year period:
- Level 2 Certificate in Electrical Power Engineering – Distribution & Transmission
- Level 3 Power Distribution Engineering Cable Jointing
- Level 2 Technical Training and NVQ Highways Maintenance Operative
- Level 3 Technical Training & NVQ Highways Electrician
You will spend most of your time out and about from your local depot, learning about all technical aspects of Lighting & Grid. You will also attend block release training programmes to gain your formal qualifications, including courses that provide trade skills such as plant operation and live electrical connections to the underground power distribution network. Learning from experienced professionals and mentors, you'll develop a comprehensive understanding of the power engineering industry as a whole and valuable experience with a major energy solutions company.
This role is hands-on, so you’ll need to be ready to work in site-based environments including public highway and construction sites.
Applicants must have completed the minimum school-leaving requirements and be 18 or older, due to the safety-critical nature of the role.
What we need from you:
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs grades A-C / 9-4 (or equivalent) including Maths, English Language and Science.
- A real interest in engineering shown by your relevant work placements, studies, hobbies or projects.
- A passion for safety and PPE requirements.
- Team-oriented with the confidence to work independently when required.
