About the role

nPower Business Solutions (nBS) is the E.ON Industrial and Commercial (I&C) area of EON and a market leader in the energy retail sector. I&C is a £7 billion revenue business serving approximately 30,000 customers and 250,000 meter points with a view to becoming the number one B2B energy supplier in the UK. The Digital Technology & Change organisation leverages innovative technology to shape and deliver nBS strategy, providing a best‑in‑market digital customer and colleague experience. We are building a product‑led DevOps model and are looking for a hands‑on Technical Product Owner to help shape the way we work and operate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage IT software and infrastructure products and applications, e.g. billing software, digital platforms, integration and flow management.
  • Work in partnership with technology and business teams, acting in both technical and people focused roles.
  • Develop product strategy, vision, roadmap and backlog in collaboration with business leaders.
  • Impact and manage the delivery of product changes, including regulatory changes.
  • Assure the health of the IT product throughout its lifespan and continuously optimise performance.
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions, advising the business on suitable options and guiding the product team to deliver the best fit solutions.
  • Identify innovative ideas to solve customer and business problems and stay aware of emerging technologies.
  • Ensure successful adoption of new features and solutions by the business.
  • Manage the product with a high level of autonomy that leads to the delivery of significant measurable value.
  • Drive delivery and creation of business value by organising effective, collaborative product teams, mentoring and supporting the product team.
  • Build, prioritise and refine the backlog aligned to the product vision, adapting when required.
  • Incorporate new features, fixes, continuous improvement tasks and remove technical debt into the backlog.
  • Assess and plan the impact of wider business or IT projects on the product, e.g. regulatory change.
  • Demonstrate a good level of technical understanding within the product and understand how the product interacts with all areas of the business.
  • Responsibilise for the overall delivery of the technical solution, ensuring solutions align to service delivery and performance requirements and deliver agreed business outcomes.
  • Apply lean practices while delivering value through iterative development (Minimum Viable Product, test & learn approach).
  • Support the product team to adopt DevOps, triage incidents, and collaborate with engineering and technical teams to ensure operational success.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Experience in Agile and/or waterfall environments delivering customer‑led outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of backlog prioritisation and Agile software development.
  • Awareness of technology trends and interest in emerging technologies.
  • Experience working with third‑party IT suppliers.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Financial and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems effectively.
  • Experience in requirements analysis, process modelling, and business case production.
  • Ability to translate technical details into business language.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Product Owner, Agile delivery, or DevOps certifications.
  • Experience in Retail, Financial Services, or Energy sectors.
  • Knowledge of Junifer (Gentrack Energy Customer Management Platform).
  • Experience in DevOps environment with CI/CD approach.
  • Experience managing customer-facing products (e.g. Digital / Customer Contact).
