As a Project Quantity Surveyor, you’ll play a key role in the commercial success of a diverse portfolio of complex, multi-disciplinary projects. Working collaboratively with our Design, Delivery and Procurement teams, you’ll provide end-to-end commercial management — from early project development and pre-tender stages through contract negotiation, delivery and operational handover. You’ll help shape a competitive and resilient supply chain, ensuring robust contractual arrangements under both JCT and NEC frameworks, while continuously identifying opportunities to improve commercial performance and project outcomes.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage and ensure the carrying out of all quantity surveying duties including commercial control of projects, valuation of subcontract applications and invoices, and raising of internal invoicing as well as management of contract variations.
- Monitor the performance of projects from a contract and commercial point of view.
- Manage the preparation of contracts and pricing schedules for all types of contracts (NEC and JCT, and bespoke service agreements).
- Managing contract placement Upstream and Downstream under both JCT and NEC regimes.
- Produce Project Cost Reports against budgets (Monthly / Quarterly and MTP forecasting).
- Provide Project Progress updates for internal and external clients, advising on project commercial risks and potential delays, variation and project contractual issues.
- Managing external relationships without compromising E.ON’s brand or values.
- Creating and managing project commercial controls to ensure projects are delivered to budget.
- Ensure all contractors and suppliers are fully approved, administering documentary evidence.
- Support the design and delivery teams in the preparation of tenders relating to the technical and commercial factors of the project, whilst closely liaising with the Procurement Team on tendering processes.
- Assist in negotiations with suppliers and contractors as part of a multi-functional team.
- Assist the Delivery Team on project performance relating to contractual, commercial and financial issues.
What we need from you:
- Degree qualification (or equivalent experience) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or a related commercial discipline.
- Strong financial and commercial experience with strong understanding of construction Contracts (JCT & NEC).
- Experience within the M&E and Civil Engineering sectors.
- Detailed experience of tender assessment and specification writing with contract negotiations.
- Strong negotiating skills and an understanding of the commercial impact of activities.
- Numerical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and information and produce it in a clear and logical format.
- Good oral and written communication, interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to take a confident and diplomatic approach with staff, contractors, customers and senior managers.
- Detailed SAP knowledge and proficient in PC based computer systems with the ability to adapt quickly to changes to those systems.
