Location: Home Based with Regular Travel

Our Energy Solutions business is currently in a rapid growth and expansion phase to help meet our Net Zero targets and commitments. Our B2B Solutions is where we design, build, sell and operate energy solutions for Industrial and Commercial customers. The range of technologies we offer encompasses efficient lighting just as much as solar solutions, complex heat and power to storage solutions and many other products. We combine different technologies to maximise the customers’ benefits and achieve Net Zero together with them.

We’re currently recruiting for a Senior Solutions Development Engineer to be based at home and to join us on this rapid growth and expansion journey. In this role, you will be leading the Solutions Development process, working in collaboration with the Business Development Managers, Detailed Design Engineers, Construction, O&M and Commercial Teams, generating commercially compelling concept designs for a portfolio of projects throughout the UK.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Lead the technical development and design of integrated energy solutions, including heat pumps, solar PV, battery storage, and energy efficiency measures.
  2. Perform feasibility studies and energy assessments, analysing potential savings and performance improvements for client projects.
  3. Develop/check engineering outline design including equipment sizing and layout, system performance and operation specifications, control philosophy, outline system drawings, constructability assessment, risk assessment, and project programme.
  4. Present technical and financial data to technical and non-technical stakeholders, offering clear insights into the benefits of proposed solutions.
  5. Oversee supplier engagement, tender processes, and technical evaluations, ensuring solutions meet both client, internal commercial, technical and regulatory standards.
  6. Support the business development team by preparing proposals, reports, and energy/carbon-saving scenarios.
  7. Work with internal stakeholders including Commercial, Procurement, Programme, Legal, Designers, and Project Management to ensure that projects are deliverable to programme, cost, quality and safety targets.
  8. Take personal responsibility for Health and Safety within the Development function and ensure that all policies, procedures and long-term corporate goals are adhered to.

What we need from you

  1. Degree Educated preferred (B.Eng./M.Eng. MSC) or HND/Experience in Electrical, Mechanical, Energy, Materials or Chemical Engineering (Class 2 or above preferential) or proven experience within an Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Sector.
  2. Good understanding of the application of CDM Regulations.
  3. IOSH or NEBOSH General Certification.
  4. Experience/knowledge of Industry standards (CIBSE Regulations/building services, British Standards, ISO etc) and industrial sector.
  5. Proven track record in carrying out detailed Project Development reports to fulfil multi-technology Industrial & Commercial Energy Solutions.
  6. Ability to draw on and develop knowledge and expertise in a highly professional manner, and to analyse and solve stakeholder and/or client issues to satisfactory resolution.
  7. Ensuring that technical and regulatory risks inherent in concept solutions and proposals to clients are identified and proposals made to mitigate if required.
  8. Develop complex technical models to simulate the operation of client utility systems and identify and evaluate energy savings opportunities.
