Are you an experienced and skilled highways lighting electrical engineer wanting to join a growing Lighting & Grid business? We are looking for a permanent Lighting Project Engineer to join our team to cover the Leicestershire & Warwickshire areas. This role will focus on our ambitious growth plans and effective delivery of lighting and electrical connection installations for our customers.

Main Responsibilities of the role:

  • Pricing customer works, issuing quotes and ensuring all issued quotes are followed up with information collated to allow effective review of competitive positioning.
  • Managing major customer relationships and negotiating win-win deals.
  • Ensuring works are effectively and efficiently project managed, including financial tracking of projects.
  • Ensure purchasing is in line with Procurement processes and at the best prices for our customers.
  • Act as an escalation point for any complaints from key customers ensuring that they are dealt with correctly and in line with our company policies.
  • Lead by example, support an environment that promotes rapid and continuous improvement whilst supporting the development of high performing teams.
  • Taking a proactive approach and taking ownership of all aspects of Safety, Health, Welfare and Environmental issues relating to our work.
  • Timely completion of invoicing to meet personal and depot account's financial targets including regular management and chasing of debt.

What we need from you:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer-facing approach.
  • At least five years' experience of having installed a range of electrical installation works including, but not solely, highways electrical works.
  • Able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of all types of highway electrical supplies including DNO, IDNO, PCN and passively safe systems.
  • Proficient in the use of basic Microsoft packages used for producing quotations, pricing documents, schedules of rates and experienced in electrical design calculations together with the production of electrical layout drawings.
  • Conversant with basic accounting, profit and loss accounts and the tracking of financial performance at project level.
  • Numerical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and information and present it in a clear and logical format.
  • A Full UK drivers' licence.
  • Experience of having operated in a commercial environment, with a track record of developing and managing key customer relationships.
  • A collaborative team player with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • A proven track record of delivering sales targets in a competitive environment.
  • An understanding of the key issues & challenges relating to New Connections.
  • The ability to make decisions and meet tight deadlines.
  • Oral communication skills, interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to take a confident and diplomatic approach with staff, colleagues and customers.

It would be great if you have:

  • The ability to self-motivate as an individual and at a team level.
  • BS7671 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations qualification.
  • Experience of using the SAP financial package.
  • Capability to focus on continuous improvement in a constantly changing environment.
