We are seeking a Head of IDNO Operations, based in our Derby office with a hybrid working model and regular travel as required to support operational delivery and stakeholder engagement.

Lead the operational excellence of E. ON's IDNO business, ensuring safe, compliant and high-performing networks that support sustainable growth and exceptional customer outcomes.

ON’s IDNO business.

Accountable for asset adoption, network operations, compliance, and lifecycle performance, ensuring safe, efficient and fully compliant delivery of IDNO services from energisation through to long-term operation.

This role will work in partnership with the Sales & Commercial leadership translating commercial wins into successful operational outcomes, ensuring smooth handover, high-quality asset adoption, and best‑in‑class ongoing network management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the multidisciplinary IDNO Operations team, creating a scalable operating model that supports business growth and embeds a high-performance, safety-first culture.
  • Oversee all operational activities, including asset adoption, network operations, asset management, regulatory compliance and land rights, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant delivery.
  • Accountable for the adoption, energisation and lifecycle performance of network assets, ensuring technical standards, design assurance and land rights are effectively managed.
  • Define and deliver strategies for network operations, maintenance, reliability, resilience and incident management to ensure security of supply.
  • Ensure compliance with Ofgem licence obligations, industry codes and safety regulations, maintaining robust governance, risk and audit frameworks.
  • Provide executive leadership for operational performance, acting as the senior escalation point for critical issues and ensuring delivery of customer commitments and service excellence.
  • Own operational budgets, financial planning and performance reporting, driving cost efficiency, asset value and delivery of DUOS billing and reconciliation activities.
  • What we need from you
  • Key Skill Requirements
  • Extensive experience within regulated electricity distribution networks, with expertise in asset adoption, network operations and asset lifecycle management.
  • Strong knowledge of electricity distribution licence obligations, industry codes, regulatory compliance and governance, with experience of leading audit, risk and compliance frameworks.
  • Proven track record of delivering operational excellence, driving cost efficiency and maximising asset value while balancing commercial and customer outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and influence strategic relationships with regulators, DNOs, ICPs, customers and other key industry stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively at executive and external stakeholder level.
  • Proven leadership experience in building and developing high-performing teams, fostering accountability, continuous improvement and a strong safety-first culture.
  • Commercially astute with strong financial planning, budgeting and performance management experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and CRM/business management systems.
