Here’s What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Apprentice – Power Engineering Cable Jointing and Street Lighting Installation, Service and Maintenance.
  • Spend most of your time out and about from your local depot, learning about all technical aspects of Lighting & Grid.
  • Attend block release training programs to gain formal qualifications, including training for plant operation and live electrical connections to the underground power distribution network.
  • Prepare for hands‑on environments including public highway and construction sites.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs grades A‑C / 9‑4 (or equivalent) including Maths, English Language and Science.
  • A real interest in engineering shown by relevant work placements, studies, hobbies or projects.
  • A passion for safety and PPE requirements.
  • Team‑oriented with the confidence to work independently when required.
  • Applicants must be 18 or older and have completed minimum school‑leaving requirements.

Training and Qualifications:

  • Level 2 Certificate in Electrical Power Engineering – Distribution & Transmission
  • Level 3 Power Distribution Engineering Cable Jointing
  • Level 2 Technical Training and NVQ Highways Maintenance Operative
  • Level 3 Technical Training & NVQ Highways Electrician
