Here’s What You’ll Be Doing:
- Apprentice – Power Engineering Cable Jointing and Street Lighting Installation, Service and Maintenance.
- Spend most of your time out and about from your local depot, learning about all technical aspects of Lighting & Grid.
- Attend block release training programs to gain formal qualifications, including training for plant operation and live electrical connections to the underground power distribution network.
- Prepare for hands‑on environments including public highway and construction sites.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs grades A‑C / 9‑4 (or equivalent) including Maths, English Language and Science.
- A real interest in engineering shown by relevant work placements, studies, hobbies or projects.
- A passion for safety and PPE requirements.
- Team‑oriented with the confidence to work independently when required.
- Applicants must be 18 or older and have completed minimum school‑leaving requirements.
Training and Qualifications:
- Level 2 Certificate in Electrical Power Engineering – Distribution & Transmission
- Level 3 Power Distribution Engineering Cable Jointing
- Level 2 Technical Training and NVQ Highways Maintenance Operative
- Level 3 Technical Training & NVQ Highways Electrician
