Salary: £45,636‑£57,937 plus standby retainer of approx £4,000
12‑month fixed‑term contract.
Responsibilities
- Lead corrective, preventative and predictive maintenance across District Heating plant rooms, pumping stations, control systems, pipework networks, heat metering equipment, and boilers.
- Assist Operations & Maintenance lead engineers in planning, coordinating and completing mechanical and electrical maintenance activities that impact the operational performance of the District Heating Network.
- Reduce unplanned unavailability, ensure 24/7 customer supply and improve asset performance while identifying major costs early for business planning.
- Support safe isolation and recommissioning of plant, pipework and electrical systems.
Qualifications
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Commercial Gas Safe Certificates including COCN1, CCN1, TPCP1, TPCP1A and CODNCO1, or equivalent.
- Experience working on commercial boilers.
- Experience with installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance of District Heating systems and associated plant.
- Experience with safe isolation and recommissioning of plant, pipework and electrical systems.
- Experience with IT communication systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to form effective working relationships, deliver expert advice and influence at all levels.
- Excellent understanding of the commercial and financial effects of plant operation.
- Basic health and safety knowledge; hazard identification, risk assessment and risk management competence.
- Contract engagement skills to appropriately challenge contractors on methods, quality and standards of work.
- Must hold a full UK driving licence.

- Experience working on commercial chillers.
- Experience working on commercial heat pumps.

Here’s what you need to know
- The salary range for this role is £45,636‑£57,937 along with a London allowance of up to £3,550 pa for eligible candidates.
- Travel is required to other sites within the area.
- A company van and fuel card will be provided.
- Call‑out rota: 1 week in 5, with a standby retainer of circa £4,000 pa.
- Overtime for callouts will be paid in addition.
