Here’s what you’ll be doing

A graduate programme allows you to put some of your academic learning into practice, get into the detail of the industry and develop as an individual.

During your two-year programme as a Market Optimisation graduate you will complete four placements in different areas of Energy Markets, each with a commercial focus. With each six-month placement you will be involved in the day-to-day activities of the role as well as specific projects to ensure we remain a market leading function. While your first placement will be chosen for you, you are able to pick the remaining three to focus on areas that are of particular interest to you, whether this be trading, volume forecasting or a more customer focused role on our Optimisation Desk.

Throughout your time on the programme, you will be fully supported at E.ON by the Energy Markets leadership team, your career manager, mentor, placement manager and a dedicated buddy who has recently joined Energy Markets.

What we need from you

  • At least a 2:2 Bachelor\'s Degree in any discipline.
  • A willingness to learn and the motivation to succeed.
  • Good communication, data analysis and problem-solving skills.

Here’s what you need to know

  • This role is based in our Solihull office (B91 3ES ) with a combination of office and home working depending on the placement.
  • A starting salary of £34,000 with annual bonus.
  • We have a market leading benefits package – it includes 26 days holiday plus eight bank holidays, a generous pension scheme, and the chance to choose from 20 flexible benefits, including the option to buy up to 2 weeks extra holiday.
  • The assessment centre for the Graduate Scheme will be taking place in our Solihull office (B91 3ES) on 13th January 2026.
