E.ON has established a growing Independent Connections Provider (ICP) business to deliver complex grid connections and support the UK’s transition to net zero. Working across LV through to 132kV infrastructure, the team delivers high-quality design and construction solutions, including major civils and cable installation. As part of E.ON’s wider strategy, the ICP works alongside the newly formed Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO), enabling a fully integrated “design, build, own, operate and maintain” offering—giving customers a seamless alternative to traditional multi-supplier models.
As a Construction Manager, you’ll support a team of project managers and site supervisors in delivering complex LV to HV/EHV (up to 132kV) connection projects. This will include overseeing major civil engineering works such as deep excavations, trench support, tunnelling, shaft construction and drilling activities. You’ll play a key role in coordinating construction delivery, with a particular focus on NERS-accredited civils works, acting as a trusted technical point of contact across the team.
Key Responsibilities- Demonstrate effective individual and collective SHE leadership and promote enthusiastic SHE culture.
- High level of understanding in the operational and documented requirements to deliver NERS, CDM, NOTICING and RAMS.
- Highly competent in supporting with tendering around material quants and run rates in different road types and footpaths etc.
- Ensure the Project delivery team and individual projects are suitably resourced in line with workload and budget.
- Responsible for supporting the scope of works, the plan and the target cost for each element of the project the PM is assigned to.
- Providing clear support to the Project Teams and also controlling the activities of the Teams against budget.
- Responsible for ensuring safe management and systems of work are deployed by all personnel involved on the project and accountable for establishing effective controls of the site construction activities.
- Seek ways of optimising the resource plan in conjunction with the HO ICP and others.
- Drive performance, actively seeking to improve and optimise delivery methods.
- Provide a professional and consistent approach for the management and execution of major projects.
- To work alongside and provide direct support to the commercial team to ensure robust project cost controls – managing the profit and loss to agreed margins.
- Own the Projects company procedures and drive continuous improvement.
- Establish working relationships with supply chain representatives to execute projects efficiently.
- Carry out site inspections as appropriate and agree benchmarks on quality.
- Manage safety, health and environmental matters proactively in accordance with the business policy statement, corporate guidelines and statutory legislation.
- Significant and demonstrable electrical experience within ICP delivery of HV /EHV Networks.
- Strong background in managing heavy civils in both the Highways and private sectors.
- Excellent knowledge of CDM and NEC form contracts.
- Knowledge of NERS.
- Self-motivated, driven to achieve results, and able to motivate staff to meet tight deadlines.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and Project.
- Good written, verbal and presentation skills.
- IOSHH Manager or equivalent CDM Competence certificate.
- CSCS.
