We are seeking an ambitious Business Development Lead to drive growth within the energy sector. The successful candidate will identify new business opportunities, build strong customer and partner relationships, and support revenue growth through innovative energy propositions. This role spans residential, SME, and commercial markets, supporting our mission to deliver affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a pipeline of opportunities across consumer, SME, and commercial segments, delivering against sales and revenue targets.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with customers, technology providers, installers, and industry stakeholders to expand reach and enhance customer value.
- Lead prospecting, proposal development, and contract negotiations to close deals and drive business growth.
- Support the launch and scaling of innovative energy solutions, including tariffs, smart charging, vehicle-to-grid, bundled services, heat, solar, storage and financing.
- Act as a trusted advisor, understanding client energy needs to deliver tailored, high-value solutions that drive satisfaction, retention and growth.
- Collaborate across Propositions, Commercial, Marketing, and Operations to develop compelling customer propositions and effective go-to-market plans.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activity to inform strategy and identify new growth opportunities in areas such as EV, mobility, and energy services.
- Gather customer and market insights to shape product design, sales materials, and future proposition development.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in business development, sales, or partnerships (energy, utilities, telecoms, financial services or related sectors).
- Track record of achieving and exceeding sales/commercial targets.
- Strong relationship management and negotiation skills.
- Commercial and financial understanding.
- Knowledge of solutions, EV charging or energy retail propositions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Nice to have
- Experience in the energy sector (retail, renewables, EV, energy efficiency, or flexibility services).
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, net zero policies, and sustainability trends.
- Experience working with CRM tools (e.g. Salesforce, HubSpot) and pipeline reporting.
