We are looking for a Government and Political Affairs Lead ready to shape strategy, build influence, and travel across our sites in Nottingham, Solihull and London and beyond, to connect with key stakeholders.
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
- Join E.ON UK as our Government and Political Affairs Lead and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of energy policy.
- Lead our engagement with political stakeholders across Westminster, devolved governments and regional leadership, building trusted relationships with Ministers, Members of Parliament and senior advisers.
- Lead a small team of dedicated Policy Advisors, providing guidance, mentoring and setting a clear direction.
- Act as a strategic advocate for E.ON, influencing the policy and investment frameworks needed to accelerate the UK’s energy transition, support economic growth and ensure energy remains affordable.
- Operate at the intersection of business, government and public impact.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive government and political affairs strategy across Westminster, devolved governments and regional leadership.
- Build high-impact relationships with Ministers, MPs, Peers, Special Advisers and senior political stakeholders.
- Lead parliamentary engagement activity, including Select Committees, All-Party Parliamentary Groups and political events.
- Deliver strategic advocacy and lobbying campaigns aligned to key policy and investment priorities.
- Monitor and interpret political developments, providing insight and advice to senior leadership on risks and opportunities.
- Prepare senior executives for ministerial meetings, parliamentary appearances and major stakeholder engagements.
- Provide credible leadership and direction to the political engagement team, ensuring cohesion, performance excellence and alignment with E.ON’s wider strategic objectives.
- Work collaboratively across communications, policy and regulatory functions to ensure a consistent and effective external voice.
What we need from you:
- Significant experience in political engagement, government relations or public affairs.
- Strong understanding of UK political institutions and parliamentary processes.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with senior political stakeholders.
- Experience advising senior executives on political strategy and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to operate confidently in complex and politically sensitive environments.
