We are looking for a Trainee District Heating Multi‑Skilled Operative to join EIS based at Cranbrook on a 12-month fixed‑term contract. City Energy Solutions (CES) is a rapidly growing business. We generate electricity and provide heat directly to customers' homes from our energy centres via our district heating networks. CES is at an exciting and important time in its development, and we are looking for people with enthusiasm and energy to help us build a safe and sustainable business for the future.
We have a fantastic opportunity to begin a career in district heating, gaining hands‑on experience while supporting the delivery of essential energy infrastructure projects across the Southwest. Working alongside an experienced and supportive team, you’ll learn a wide range of practical site‑based skills while helping us deliver work safely, sustainably and to the highest quality standards. No prior experience is required as full training and development support will be provided.
Key responsibilities:- Assist the onsite team as a Pipe Fitter to move, alter and prepare underground steel pipework to be welded.
- Complete electrofusion welding on all necessary joints to E.ON specification.
- Install UDHN pipework to each house connection in accordance with E.ON design and specification.
- Ensure all backfilling of excavations are completed to the E.ON specification.
- Carry out UDHN Flushing/Treatment works on UDHN pipework in accordance with E.ON specification.
- Ensure all mobile plants are operated correctly and well maintained.
- Ensure all UDHN pipework is loaded, moved and stored correctly.
- Maintain accurate inspection records throughout the work.
- Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with colleagues, stakeholders and customers.
- An appropriate CSCS card (‘Labourer‘ card as a minimum).
- Must be willing to travel if necessary to fulfil labour requirements on (EIS) projects.
- The ability to work within a large team, working closely with others to ensure effective delivery.
- A proactive approach to problem solving.
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Willing to complete E.ON training to improve skill set.
- Experience in UDHN installation.
- CPCS – 360 Excavator above & below 10 tonnes – tracked and wheeled.
- CPCS – Forward tipping dumper – tracked and wheeled.
- First aid at work qualification.
