With a diverse team of Commercial Engineers, Supervisors, Administrators, and both direct and subcontracted field operatives, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring operational excellence across the Midlands. You’ll also collaborate closely with the Regional Manager and Bid team to identify and secure new opportunities with both existing and prospective clients, ensuring alignment with Lighting & Grid’s strategic objectives and sustainable growth plans. A key focus of this role is the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of all projects under your management.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the safe and compliant delivery of all activities, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality and environmental standards.
  • Manage the technical, supervisory and administrative teams, promoting a culture of wellbeing, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Support employee development through effective performance management, training plans and consistent application of attendance and behaviour standards.
  • Manage the operational performance and financial accountability of the West Region New Business Department, driving efficiency and achieving key business targets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new clients to support business retention and growth.
  • Work alongside the Regional Manager to develop and deliver a business plan and budget that align with the Lighting & Grid’s strategic and sustainable growth objectives. This includes ownership of the P&L account.
  • Identify and implement synergies across regional depots to optimise resource use and enhance overall performance.

What we need from you:

  • Proven experience managing operational depots and leading teams effectively.
  • Strong background in contract, account, and stakeholder relationship management.
  • Sound understanding of the technical, operational, and health & safety requirements, ideally with a recognised safety qualification (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH).
  • Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed performance targets, including financial management, forecasting, and budget control.
  • Skilled in identifying business risks and opportunities to protect reputation and drive revenue growth or cost savings.
  • Motivated self-starter with excellent leadership skills to inspire and develop teams focused on customer service and commercial excellence.
  • Utilities background is highly desirable.
  • Full valid driving licence required.
