Business Performance & Optimisation Manager
Here\’s what you\’ll be doing
Location: Flexible UK location, hybrid.
Salary: Competitive + Company car/allowance (£6k p/a)

We design and deliver sustainable energy infrastructure — from innovative heat networks that provide low-carbon heating to smarter, more efficient energy solutions for communities and businesses. We’re now looking for a Business Performance & Optimisation Manager to join our HeatNetwork Operations team. In this key role, you’ll use your commercial insight and strategic thinking to drive performance, profitability and continuous improvement across our operations.
You’ll identify and deliver opportunities to maximise value in gross margin and operational costs, providing clear insight and challenge to support our growth whilst minimising risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion the commercial optimisation of Heat Networks by using performance insight to identify opportunities for improvement, collaborating closely with engineering and digital teams to deliver meaningful outcomes.
- Coordinate operational budgeting and forecasting, ensuring transparency, shared ownership, and alignment to deliver on commercial goals.
- Partner with commercial and energy management experts to effectively manage and optimise Heat Network commodity costs.
- Evolve and maintain clear, supportive operational budgeting models and reporting tools that empower teams to understand and manage performance.
- Foster a shared understanding of operational performance, connecting team actions with financial outcomes and encouraging thoughtful, informed decision-making.
- Collaborate with supply chain and support teams to identify opportunities for efficiency and value creation.
- Provide clear, balanced insight to guide commercial outcomes, such as site-level profitability and partnership opportunities, while managing risks responsibly.
- Work alongside Finance to ensure strong and supportive commercial and financial controls across Operations.
- Evaluate the financial and commercial benefits of new initiatives, working collaboratively with operational leaders to shape business success.
- Partner with the senior operational team to achieve commercial targets, supporting effective decisions, shared accountability, and continuous improvement.
What we need from you
- Demonstrable experience of leading complex planning processes, involving multiple senior stakeholders.
- Ability to analyse complex problems and data, drawing insight and driving action
- Excellent communication skills. Credible with senior management, with demonstrable experience of presenting to Board level
- Collaborative, with ability to build excellent working relationships across teams and disciplines, and at all levels.
- Ability to lead, and deliver challenging targets personally, and through others
