About the role
The Renewables Electrician works alongside the UK’s largest new‑build solar installer, supporting the installation of electric vehicle chargers, solar PV systems, battery storage and other innovative products for housing developers. Working in a safe and controlled environment, you will help deliver the highest standards of quality, safety and customer service in low‑carbon electrical installations. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient installation of PV systems (inverters and generation meters), accurate and timely submission of paperwork, compliance with MCS and Health, Safety and Quality standards, as well as any required overnight stays. Attention to detail, problem‑solving skills and technological proficiency are essential, including the use of apps for certifications and reports.
Responsibilities
- Install PV systems, including inverters, generation meters, AC isolators and other components.
- Conduct accurate paperwork and certifications on the same day of installation.
- Maintain compliance with MCS, Health & Safety and Quality standards.
- Ensure all installations meet timeframes and quality expectations, achieving 15 second‑fix installs a week where required.
- Support health and safety objectives by reporting zero RIDDOR incidents and maintaining monthly safety reports.
- Participate in regular audits to maintain quality and regulatory compliance.
About you
Previous experience in solar installations and/or domestic new builds is required. You must possess:
- 18th Edition electrical qualifications (BS7671)
- N/SVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (Building and Structures) or a completed apprenticeship with AM2
It would be helpful but not essential if you have:
- Solar certification (BPEC or City & Guilds)
- Level 3 Award in the Installation of Small‑Scale PV Systems.
- CSCS/ECS Card for site works.
- Testing and inspection 2391-52 qualification.
- Experience in 3‑phase installations.
A strong communicator, reliable, adaptable and a team player are essential. You should be able to manage your workload within established timeframes, keep excellent time‑keeping records and demonstrate flexibility in working arrangements while delivering a high‑quality service for customers.
