Special Education Coordinator
Position Type: Full-Time, 10-Month Position (Temporary for School Year)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Special Education Coordinator to ensure the effective implementation of special education services and enhance instructional practices across the district. In this role, you will oversee legal compliance, support the development and monitoring of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and provide coaching to both special education and general education staff.
This position plays a vital role in building capacity, improving student outcomes, and fostering inclusive classroom environments across the district.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Program Coordination & Compliance: Ensure full compliance with IDEA and state special education laws and regulations.

IEP Management: Oversee timelines and documentation for evaluations, re-evaluations, and IEPs. Facilitate and participate in IEP and eligibility meetings.

Service Fidelity: Monitor the implementation of IEPs and related services to ensure effectiveness and fidelity of implementation.

Staff Coaching & Collaboration: Provide coaching, professional development, and mentoring to special education and general education teachers on specially designed instruction (SDI) and evidence-based practices.

Stakeholder Liaison: Serve as the central point of contact between families, school administrators, service providers, and external agencies.

Data Analysis & Reporting: Collect, analyze, and report special education data to inform instructional decisions and ensure audit readiness for state/federal monitoring.
Qualifications & Requirements
Standard Licensure & Experience Requirements:

Continuing Delaware License preferred OR a minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience in Delaware (with completed CIP – Comprehensive Induction Program).

Early Childhood / Exceptional Child Certification preferred.
Mandatory Compliance Credentials:

Favorable Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.

Current Tuberculin (TB) Test and Physical Clearance.

Mandatory Direct Deposit setup.
Core Knowledge & Skills:

Strong expertise in IDEA regulations, IEP development, and progress monitoring tools.

Experience with specially designed instruction (SDI) and educational software/IEP tracking systems.

Strong interpersonal, coaching, conflict-resolution, and organizational skills.

Physical capability to stand, walk, sit, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs.
