We are seeking to appoint an organised, IT literate, customer-focused forward-thinking Technical Services Coordinator to provide comprehensive technical administrative support to the School of Life Sciences, with the support of the Technical Admin Assistant. The successful applicant will focus on providing and developing administrative provision to support academics and the Technical Services Team in relation to laboratory activities, with a particular focus on ensuring good health and safety and statutory compliance in our lab environments as well as supporting with efficiency.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in an environment that wishes to be at the forefront in enhancing compliance through simplifying, streamlining and improving administrative processes. There will be a particular focus on the use of Power Automate in SharePoint to bring about these enhanced processes. You will have a penchant to own new concepts, processes and systems to shape how we operate more effectively.

About You

The successful candidate will be a well-organised, proactive and positive can-do person, who is approachable and collaborative with a calm professional manner. You need to be able to communicate effectively with all stakeholders, see continuous improvement as an everyday feature of the role and be able to work on your own as well as part of a number of teams. You will be motivated to help people, introduce change whilst keeping an eye on system and administrative details and impact.

This is a newly revised and enhanced role and a wonderful opportunity to gain some really valuable experience in a friendly and supportive team, to build positive relationships, prioritise initiatives and to put your strong IT skills to the test. Every day will be different and we will play to your strengths. We are a small admin team, so the role will entail being hands-on and supporting with other admin and customer-facing tasks within the SLS School Support Team.

About The Department

The School of Life Sciences (SLS) is a cohesive, enthusiastic community that works together in an open, welcoming, inclusive and highly collaborative environment. We have a friendly professional, technical and operational services staff of about 120 who provide a range of support to ensure that the department can successfully deliver on all it offers in a proactive and positive way. In addition to this, there are a further 160 research/academic staff.

Our campus has a range of teaching spaces and labs, and world-class research labs and support infrastructures.
