Position Overview
The Head of Year is a non‑teaching role that leads pastoral care, behaviour, attendance and wellbeing for a year group, ensuring students thrive academically and personally.
Responsibilities
- Lead on pastoral care, behaviour and attendance for your year group
- Provide targeted support and early intervention for vulnerable students
- Work closely with families, external agencies and staff to support student success
- Monitor student progress, wellbeing and engagement
- Promote a positive, inclusive and safe school culture
Qualifications
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Safeguarding training (Level 2 or above; Level 3 desirable)
- Strong experience in pastoral care, behaviour or student support
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families and external agencies
Benefits and Remuneration
- SCP 22‑27 – £31,919.14 – £36,201.36 or FTE – £33,699.00 – £38,220.00
- 37 hours per week, 42 weeks per year
