Bannerman Road Community Academy is seeking to appoint a dedicated, enthusiastic and caring Teaching Assistant to join our committed team. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting children to achieve their full potential and who can contribute positively to our inclusive and nurturing learning environment. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and pupils across the school, helping to deliver high-quality learning experiences while promoting the wellbeing, confidence and development of every child.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support pupils' learning in the classroom by working with individuals and small groups under the direction of the Class Teacher.
  • Provide targeted support to pupils including those with additional needs or special educational needs, ensuring their safety, wellbeing and access to learning.
  • Help pupils to understand instructions, develop independence and engage positively with learning activities.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education, behaviour and personal care plans following guidance from teaching staff.
  • Support the teacher in creating a purposeful, engaging and well-managed learning environment.
  • Some aspects of the role may include supporting pupils with personal care needs, when required.

Pay range: NJC 5 - 7 - £19,004.10 - £19,613.23 FTE - £25,583.00 - £26,403.00 31.25 hours per week, 39 weeks per year Permanent

Qualifications and Skills:

  • GCSE Maths and English Grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification or relevant experience
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and small groups of pupils
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents
  • Ability to support pupils with a range of needs, including those with SEND
