Summary Of Job Role
As our first KYC & Compliance Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and embedding the compliance framework within our shipbroking business. You’ll take ownership of all Know Your Customer (KYC), due diligence, and regulatory monitoring activities, ensuring our operations meet industry standards and international compliance expectations. Partnering closely with brokers, leadership, and external stakeholders, you’ll build scalable processes, strengthen risk management practices, and support a culture of integrity across the organisation. This is a stand‑alone, hands‑on, high‑impact role suited to someone who thrives in a fast‑paced commercial environment and is excited to establish best‑in‑class compliance foundations from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- Onboard new counterparties following existing KYC, due diligence and compliance policies.
- Periodically review and update existing compliance policies and KYC procedures in line with changes in law, sanctions and company risk appetite.
- Develop and maintain a database of KYC approved counterparties in line with data protection and retention policies.
- Audit compliance with company compliance and KYC policies and periodically review counterparties.
- Monitor UK, US, EU and other applicable jurisdictions sanctions laws to ensure compliance.
- Monitor UK, US, EU and other applicable jurisdictions sanctions listings and cross‑check against client lists.
- Undertake ongoing sanctions screenings on business activities in high‑risk jurisdictions to ensure compliance with relevant laws and sanctions, liaising with specialist external legal counsel as necessary.
- Investigate and escalate potential sanctions risks with the directors as necessary.
- Ensure reporting obligations are adhered to in line with sanctions laws and regulations.
- Manage broker panel onboarding, reviews, and ongoing monitoring.
- Maintain broker panel records and approval documentation.
- Support broker panel reviews and escalations where compliance concerns arise.
- Review broker service agreements to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.
- Monitor company compliance with broker service agreements and report breaches to the Directors.
- Track execution, renewals, and amendments of broker agreements.
- Liaise with Client Legal and Commercial teams on broker agreement contractual matters.
- Ensure broker agreements align with approved broker panel terms.
- Ensure Directors are kept informed and ensure Directors sign all Broker agreements within a timely manner, making them aware of any risks that may arise.
- Maintain a record of all signed Broker Agreements and NDAs including expiry dates and scope.

- Knowledge of dealing with higher risk counterparties.
- Maritime or Shipbroking/Chartering experience.
