Are you interested in a career in Childcare? We have an amazing opportunity to take on a Modern Apprentice for an excellent childcare setting in Dundee! Working with children really is a career like no other. You have the chance to shape a young person's life, inspire their creative thought process and teach them skills they will use forever. Completing a Modern Apprenticeship will equip you with the skills and knowledge required to become a qualified Practitioner.

The successful applicants will be assisting senior practitioners and training under general direction of the manager. This is a full time position. In a typical day you will be involved in:

  • Setting up the play environment for a fun filled day of learning
  • Implement planned learning experiences in line with the Curriculum for Excellence
  • Keep children safe and well at all times
  • Assist with snack, lunches and dinners
  • Play outdoors in all weather!

The Modern Apprenticeship takes candidates around 12 months to complete and you will be working towards an SVQ 3 Social Services Children and Young People qualification; this is a work-based qualification and once completed, you will become a fully qualified Childcare Practitioner. You will be employed by the nursery and l&g Learning will support you through your training.

You’ll have a head start in this vacancy if you’ve completed a Foundation Apprenticeship in a related field. We’ll need you to provide evidence of your qualification and show you gained the relevant skills from your placement. You should demonstrate a desire to work within the Childcare sector and have some form of relatable experience. Ideally you will have one National 5 qualification including English. However, we understand that not everyone will have achieved this level of qualification and will take this into consideration. Anyone who has completed a Foundation Apprenticeship in Childcare will get direct access to the interview stage.
