The Operations Project Manager (OPM) represents Dyson’s Global Supply Chain (GSC), as primary member of the Project Leadership Team (PLT), co-ordinating and driving Procurement, Manufacturing Engineering, Tooling, Testing, Supply Chain, After-Sales Servicing, and Commercial Operations. The OPM will guide and oversee the implementation of manufacturing and procurement strategies, providing expertise input into the design and development specification and proposed solution.

About the role

Project

Act as the single point of contact for and represent GSC, as primary member of the PLT, on priority projects throughout the product pipeline.

Accountable for providing guidance and influencing the PLT on GSC considerations of product design and development.

Accountable for coordinating and cascading decisions made by the PLT into the GSC function activities.

Accountable to deliver all GSC assessments, presenting GSC inputs into the Dyson Product Development Milestone process, ensuring all deliverables are completed time appropriately from project inception to TS (Targets Set).

Conduct and drive, strategic technical reviews on Projects around all GSC functions, including Make vs Buy, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Service Support strategies.

Responsible for identifying, coordinating, and executing SGC transfer of ownership between NPI Ops and Operations Sustaining.

Responsible to Initiate and lead project reviews to identify GSC risks, including mitigation plans, and manage appropriate escalation.

Responsible to develop cross functional project plans with tangible deliverables across GSC teams, ensuring the project schedule are aligned and realistic.

Responsible for developing project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders.

Responsible for identifying, managing, and communicating to stakeholders, resolving conflicts.

Programme

Provide coaching and guidance to all areas of the business on the relevance and interactions of the GSC functions. Opportunity to identify and deliver cross-category GSC initiatives to bring in efficiencies and optimisations, developing the direction and strategies of Operations.

Ownership and continuous development of the process across project and programme activities.

Support the identification of process specific project/people training needs.

Responsible for capturing lessons learnt and continuous improvement initiatives to develop OPM capability.

About you

A Degree level qualification in a STEM related discipline or other relevant subject, or equivalent experience.

Project or Programme management experience in a complex and fast paced environment, managing project budgets and governing expenditure.

Experience of applying change, risk, and schedule managementprocesses.

Appreciation and understanding of the critical business functions and their contribution to NPI and NPD including Engineering, Commercial, manufacturing, sales & marketing, and Operations functions.

Strong and robust understanding of a typical product development project lifecycle.

Desirable: Proficient in translating business needs into holistic, precise non-functional and functional requirements to enable the product development team to optimise the product proposal within the realistic constraints of the GSC reality.

Desirable: Technically capable within the consumer product manufacturing industry to contribute to DFMEA and PFMEA reviews.

Effective communicator, capable of communicating complex programmes to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders. Comfortable engaging and influencing stakeholders of wide-ranging levels of an organisation.

Experience making quick decisions based on data and assessments of risk.

Confidence in problem solving, analysis and decision making with a solution orientated mindset.

Ability to take substantial amounts of information and summarise clear concise messages for target audiences.

Ability to drive project teams, empowering, and inspiring teams.
